Worktree are an employability education charity based in Milton Keynes, with a mission to help young people succeed in work by introducing them to employers. They are experienced, impartial and expert at helping employers, in all sectors and of all sizes, to make valuable contributions to young people’s learning.
When Worktree first contacted Prominent Media they had a serious problem. Their original website, supplied by an inexperienced developer who had “done them a deal” was proving to be extremely unstable. Due to the way it was constructed, adding new pages could cause parts of the site to stop working on a random basis. It was threatening to seriously damage their reputation.
Having had a difficult relationship with their previous developer, Tom Bulman and his team were determined to have a better experience this time around. They already knew Iain Row, Prominent Media’s Managing Director, as he supported their charitable work as a volunteer, which made communicating their aims and vision much easier.
Having briefed Iain and his team on their needs for the new site, particularly the need for it to help them manage bookings, the Worktree team were delighted when Iain was able to recommend an integration with Eventbrite, which made setting up their events, and managing bookings and attendees very simple.
Tom and his team were delighted with the new site, feeling that it made a great first impression, whether viewed on a desktop screen or a mobile phone. Prominent Media did some extra work to make sure that a complicated event table – possibly the most important single page on the site – worked well on smaller displays.
The new website is totally stable, and Tom feels that there is a good balance between the amount of control he has, and the confidence that he is not going to be able to break anything. The feedback from their stakeholders has been excellent as well, with overwhelmingly positive comments.
